Although the ScholarsBox is not designed for me per se, I do find it helpful to think about what the ScholarsBox would look like if I were the primary (and perhaps sole) user. Why is it helpful to me? I know the user and what the user wants; thinking about a concrete user grounds the software and drives integration of the functionality into usability; I'm a cutting edge user -- and so designing for that user can surface techniques/usages that people who aren't so tech-savvy will want. The downsides are essentially the mirror-image of the putative advantages and are well articulated by people like AlanCooper.

Characteristics:

I am a weblogger and use UserlandSoftware/ManilaProgram and MovableType.
I've recently become a devoted user of MoinMoin -- and more and more of my public knowledge work is being placed on MyWikis
I do a lot of book searches. see ScholarsBox/BookInfoPrototype
I am a heavy user of EccoPro, which holds a lot of my personal information: contact info, to do lists, and a lot of notes
I am a scholar (or played one in a previous life: see MyPhdWork) and so have the experience and desires of many scholars who want to gather all sorts of scholarly data from disparate sources and organize this information, mulling over the data, and creating my own interpretations -- which have been informed by the interpretations of others in my scholarly community.

What I'd like to have:

a next-generation successor to EccoPro -- such as the ChandlerProject. Key desired features: deep integration with desktop, personal content management system
reusable pieces of content: e.g., it would be interesting to get ReusablePowerpoint.
code that works cross-platform. Currently, I do a lot of work on Win32 platforms -- but I also have a HandspringTreo300 and want to get into running stuff on a LinuxOs machine, etc. I want all my data to be shareable across these different platforms.
code to jumpstart my efforts at getting into the SemanticWeb. Perhaps too early-adoptor right now -- but it's a good place to start experimenting.
tools that make it much easier to author structured documents.
