[WWW]Reload editor and [WWW]SCORM player

From my [WWW]IU blog entry on Reload:

One of the nice software discoveries from the alt-i-lab meeting is RELOAD ("Reusable Learning Object Authoring and Delivery"), an open-source project funded under the JISC Exchange for Learning Programme (X4L) that currently allows users to author and preview IMS Content Packages -- and ultimately more (play SCORM packages, edit and deliver IMS Learning Design content). I've been looking for just such a tool; the buzz at the conference was that Reload was not only free but also one of the best tools around for editing IMS content packages.

I just installed the package and fed it one a IMS content package that I create from my amazon "wishlist" (via an Amazon to IMS-CP XSLT crosswalk).

What to do with RELOAD? Lots of possibilities. One of the first is to put a web front end so that I can set up a web service that will accept a URL to an IMS content package and return a (D)HTML rendition of the package. To figure out how difficult it would be to create such a front end, one could download the source from sourceforge.

Another possible project is to recast RELOAD as an editor/player for other XML formats (e.g., METS and RSS, etc) Phillipe Beauvoir, the lead developer and architect for RELOAD, who was kind enough to demo RELOAD for me and answer questions, said that this would be quite feasible to do. (Still, I don't know how hard it would be to pull it off....)

Another possibility is to embed the editing functionality into the Scholar's Box....(I'll have to sketch out what that means exactly.)
