A term of art in at least North American evangelical circles to talk about integrating one's Christian faith with one's scholarly activities. Often there has been a dichotomy between the two. I thought a lot about this subject as a graduate student but not much in recent years.

I'm at the Faculty Forum for the C.S. Lewis Foundation taking place on the Berkeley campus (2003.10.11) I'm really interested in reading more by Dennis O'Brien, Philip Selznick, and Katherine Bassard. I get the sense that Patricia Benner has a lot to say....but reading her books will help me get at her perspectives.

A key phrase that emerged today is one that Dennis O'Brien introduced: truth that stops the heart.

I'm pondering how my Christian commitments have implications for my own creative and scholarly work.
