The

set of papers from NSF Post Digital Libraries Future look like good reading for those of us interested in the future of digital libraries. (If I remember correctly, I think that there is increasing skepticism about the role that metadata have to play in the future expressed in some of these papers.)

I'd love to read up on conferences such as ECDL 2003, especially because there was some work on music retrieval.

Digital Libraries is an excellent list of pointers to digital library oriented sites.
